


Zohar Argov was a leading figure in Mizrachi mediterranean music in israel. He earned the title "HaMelekh" (the King) because he was the first one to bring origin Yemenite, Moroccan, and other Oriental music to Israel. Zohar unfortunately allowed an heroin addiction to cause him problems in his professional and personal life, yet he was still able to amaze crowds with his special voice and amazing performances. He was arrested on alleged rape charges, and committed suicide in his cell by hanging the morning of November 6, 1987. His accomplishments and contributions to Israeli music are still acknowledged to this day.
